Alexander Scourby was an accomplished Broadway Shakespearean actor, radio personality, movie actor and narrator of many television documentaries. He was undoubtedly known for his eloquent voice. His narration of the Bible has been recorded more than any other narration in the world. He will likely be best remembered for this recording of the Bible.
My Parents were Bible salesmen for many years and they sold this version on tapes. I grew up listening to them and really love the Shakespearean actor's rendition. I finally found them digitized and bought a copy!

The quality of the reading is the best I have ever heard in a Bible recording.

I was very disappointed to discover that version I downloaded is split across 60 mp3 files and not even separated by book.
It is therefore impossible to select a specific book or verse I wish to listen to and makes the whole thing pretty useless.

I have been using this audio Bible for several months now and like it very much. Mr Scourby does a very good job of it, but I am sorry that there is so little choice for the KJV.
This is the 400th anniversary year for the King James Version of the Bible. It remains the much loved version of many Christians. It is the most faithful, majestic translation of the Scripture that we have in the English language.
